Sing for Health
It's official - singing is good for you!
20,000 Voices has been one of a growing number of organisations which has been promoting the health benefits of singing recently. We have long been aware that one of the reasons people take up regular singing in a group or choir is that it makes them feel better. We are also aware that when children sing together they are happier, work better and achieve more.
Singing improves breathing, develops core muscles, exercises the brain (memory, concentration, linking left and right brain function), engages the emotions and encourages a feeling of belonging. Singers report benefits in all these areas, but even more they report a huge improvement in their overall mood.
Explore our Sing for Health page - which has articles by singers and medical practitioners about singing for your health, and maintaining a healthy voice; as well as links to research and further information;
